Post Dell OptiPlex Gx620
Hi,

ESXi 4.0 installs perfectly fine on Dell OptiPlex Gx620.
ESX 4.0 also installs however only via text mode.

Local Storage (SATA) and NIC are both detected and work fine.

Have you tested all features like VMotion, HA/DRS cluster on Dell OptiPlex Gx620? I'd like to get a couple of them but not sure if there is any issues. When I worked on some other machines, I got error of EVC that cannot be enabled. Thanks.

I have 4.0 running on an Optiplex GX620 with 8Gb, the Proc is a Pentium 4 Single Core with HT, ESX runs fine on the box, I also have about 4VM's on there connecting to an NFS Box also, the only problem I am seeing is that that the System Memory usage is 4.3Gb, I have set the SVC Console to 800Mb, I suspect the High Allocation of system memory is due to the single core Proc or the memory bus controller.

Total Memory 7.6Gb
System Memory 4.3Gb
VM Memory 2.3Gb
SVC Console 800Mb

I am going to replace the system board in there for the 755 or 765 motherboard so I can at least put a Quad Core Proc in there and have the SATA3G Controller

I've got a problem during ESXi 4 on this one, it keeps showing unsupported BIOS settings, limite CPUID should be disable from the BIOS or "support OS NT4", but I couldn't find neither of these options in BIOS?

any idea?

Cliff

Hi,
another issue, I have gotten ESXi 4 running on GX620, window 2003 vm installed with vsphere client, but couldn't seems get remote desktop to access to win2003 from different workstation.
is there any setting need to be done?

Please give a headup so that I don't have to go through the documentation. :-)

Many thanks

Do you have another VM to connect from to test if it's a vSwitch / NIC issue? Can you telnet to port 3389 on the VM? RDP enabled?
