I managed to get my first whitebox together without too much trouble...
Motherboard - ASUS M4A88TD-M/USB3 - 104.99 Processor - AMD X2 555 Black Edition - 89.99 RAM - 8GB Corsair 1333 DDR3 Memory (2x4 Sticks) 45.99 Each Hard Drive - Seagate 500gb Hard drive 39.99 Case - Thermaltake Case 39.99
Pretty cheap for my first whitebox. Part of me wishes i wouldve swung for the fences on the processor and ram - but ill work my way up.
I am using the built in NIC on the motherboard. It took me a bit of tinkering with to get it to work but finally i learned on this site how to inject the driver into the ESXI install. Once inside VMs on the machine however i had no external internet access. I changed the network adapter to VXMNET3 and it picked back up. Yay!
Time to play now haha....
