One thing I am not 100% on if any experts are about?  At the ESXi end I have it setup as the enclosed pic shows, it works and all seems okay but not 100% i have it correct.

Brilliant! I searched for "VLAN tagging" at https://www.vmware.com/support/ and there were quite a few hits. Maybe one of those would be applicable to your questions? I don't know, you are way beyond my knowledge base now

Okay found an issue with a disk, still setup as above screenshots and all is working well  I think I have it setup spot on
