Succesfully upgraded my server today. The setup I am using:
Asus P5E-VM DO Intel E6750 Dual Core 6GB RAM (2 x 2GB, 2x 1GB) Intel Gbit PCIe + onboard Intel Gbit NIC Adaptec 2405 PCIe SAS/SATA RAID Card 4x Western Digital Caviar 500GB RE3 SATA Drive (in RAID 10)
As my CPU supports VT-d and Intel TXT there was no need to disable these in the BIOS (although I am not using passthrough in ESXi at the moment). However for some reason only the Adaptec, the jMicron and 1 of the NICs is available in the passthrough menu.
Although the jMicron PATA controller is recognized in ESXi, the attached DVD player was not so I had to replace that with a SATA DVD player.

Re: Asus P5E-VM DO & Adaptec 2405
Update: I had to disable TXT support in the BIOS in order to be able to install a 64-bit OS. VT-d is still enabled.
