- MSI H67MA-E45 MB
- IntelĀ® H67 (B3) Chipset
- Intel I5 2400
- MB has the RTL8111/8168 NIC built in
- had to use the driver in this oem tgz to get it to work properly. None of the others worked
- set the SATA type to RAID in BIOS, didn't create any volumes but it still recognizes them as storage
- Supports Intel VT (vt-x)

I'm curious if your nic is coming up as 100MB. I used the same 8169 driver at first on an 8111/8168 chipset and it worked except the nic wouldn't reliably do gigabit speeds and even when the link was up, the GUI would show it down.

I switched to the 8168 driver here:

(Interestingly I have also picked up this same board but with an i5 2500k to play with and was intending on testing an esxi install later this week).

Actually the GUI does show it down. Not sure what the speeds are but if I recall correctly I was able to cut/paste large files between Windows VM's at >10mb/s.
I actually picked up the hardware for this white box thinking for VM Server. Decided to do ESXi on a whim and got it working. If I were to do it again I would be much more careful about the hardware but I was switching jobs and had tons to migrate before I had to give back all of the server hardware I was toying with.

Could you please let me know if you have added NIC driver to bootable media or it is enough to add driver after ESXi is installed?

During installation I am getting the message "Unable to load module /usr/lib/vmware/vmkmod/vmfs3: Failure". I am wondering if this is related to NIC at all.

The error is related to lack of a NIC that ESXi can see. ESXi requires a NIC during the install process?

Buy an Intel CT 1000 card. Costs around 30 bucks. Then you will be able to install without any problems !

And also rest of youguys why don't you buy another nic so you don't have network issues ? Isn't it a pitty to have a great esxi box and being worried about the nic ?
