 Re: HP DC 7800
I've been running ESXi on my HP dc7900 for more than a year now, with no problems of any kind.

 Re: HP DC 7800
I am trying to install Windows Server 2008 std on my HP dc7800p but it seems to hang. It does this on my Dell Precision 390 as well...I would like to eventually get vCenter 4.1 on here as a VM... any luck or attempt at this? thanks

 Re: HP DC 7800
You might try vmxnet2 or 3 (although the e1000 should work just fine).

 Re: HP DC 7800
Greetings Rafael...if you could let me know whether you were able to use the native RAID for your host OS drive, I would appreciate it. I am attempting to install ESXi4.1 on the dc7800 using two 2TB drives in a RAID 0+1 configuration for the host OS drive as well as datastore.
Thanks...Chris

 Re: HP DC 7800
Hi Dave thanks for replying...
I believe it is an Intel ICH9 controller.
The HP p/n on the desktop is KA587UT#ABA, if you wanted to check full specs but I cannot find the specifics on the controller.
I can place it into AHCI mode but we would prefer to have HDD RAID failover if possible.
I have an Intel 1000 PCI NIC as I have heard there are issues with the onboard NIC for this model. I will purchase a RAID card if I absolutely cannot get the native RAID working.
Thanks for any assistance you can provide. I really appreciate your taking the time to look this over.
Regards...Chris
