Post MSI 760GM-E51 + AMD Phenom II X6 1090T
Motherboard: MSI 760GM-E51
Processor: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T
Processor Socket: AM3
BIOS Revision: v1.9
Memory: 16 GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3 1333MHz RAM (model: F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL)
Network card: Intel PCI-E Card (82571EB chipset)

On board SATA works in IDE mode. Will not be using RAID mode.
On board NIC does not work, haven't tried a custom oem.tgz. Using an Intel card.
The CPU supports AMD-V.
I did not test FT.
No changes to ESXi were needed.

I was having issues with very slow boot times of the hypervisor and slow performance for the VMs in general. The console event log was full of messages like this:

cpu4:4100)WARNING: CpuSched: 8825: processor apparently halted for 1836 ms

This was being caused by C1E support being enabled in the BIOS. Disabling it resolved the performance problems. To disable it:

-> Advanced BIOS Features
--> CPU Feature
---> C1E Support (set to Disabled)

With C1E enabled Ubuntu Server 10.10 took two hours to install as a guest VM. With it disabled it took six minutes.

With C1E enabled there were keyboard and mouse performance problems in general in guest VMs. With it disabled these problems disappeared.

I have been unable to get 4.1 update 1 to work with this board. I have the Phenom II X6 1055T with 16GB of patriot ram. I have not received my intel nic yet though and have used the oem.tgz for the realtek driver. I've been fighting with it for days. The problems I am having are extemely intermittent which makes me think I may have some hardware issues, but Windows 7, even though the install is slow, seems to run fine on it. I have also tried disabling (which I have kept disabled) C1E, and every other imaginable setting.

Here is what I've been experiencing during the install:

    Freeze after oem.tgz is loaded.
    Purple screen after hib is loaded.
    Random failures, with error stating image could not be copied to hard drive.
If I'm lucky and get it loaded:

    Purple screen after letting it sit for a while.
    New XP VM will not power on with error message "VMWare internal monitor error"

If you haven't gotten it to work yet, or if you haven't gotten an Intel card yet, try ESXi 5. The built-in NIC works without a modified oem.tgz.
