Regarding VMDirectPath, I don't think I'll need it...can't think of what hardware I'd need to access directly with a Guest? I just want to get somewhat familiar with Vsphere in case I have a need to know it for a job. I don't expect to gather the same experience in this kind of lab setup compared to someone working in the field with this.
I also am wanting to create a Windows AD network with 2008R2, win7, etc on this virtual lab. I could use vmware workstation but am wanting to go the esx4.1 route.

It is NFS. I added storage by giving it a server path.
