This motherboard works perfectly with ESXi 4.1. I didn't try 4.0 because I read that the LSI SAS Raid controller didn't work with it. The board spec is here;

http://www.supermicro.com/xeon_3400/Mot ... =Y&TYP=SAS

1. LSI SAS controller works perfectly, Any RAID logical drives created from the BIOS are available to create datastores. Moreover, the logical and physical drives are listed in the 'health' section of the vi-client.

2. Installation of ESXi onto the internal USB ports works.

3. Both Intel NICs work perfectly.

4. Intel ICH10R works as expected, albeit not as a RAID controller.

Great motherboard. Has IPMI 2.0 plus KVM over IP.

Just FYI in case anyone is interested, all of the above points are also true for Xenserver 5.6, with the exception of installing and booting from USB, which I didn't try.

Does ESXi see your raid array when to installed it? ie.. when you are prompted where to install the hypervisor does it show a single array or your individual disks?

Thanks,

CHarp
