Post Shuttle SG33G5 barebone
Hi all,

I have successfully installed and run both ESXi 3.5u4 and 4.0 on my Shuttle SG33G5 barebone.

In both cases, I am booting off a USB stick:

- with 3.5u4 I created it from the ISO file as the install process would hang, no changes needed to the .tar.gz file

- with 4.0 the installer worked well by booting from the CD and allowed me to perform the installation directly on the USB stick

My machine has:

- Intel G33 chipset / ICH9DH
- Intel E6850 dual core 3.00 GHz
- 4G DDR2 RAM (2x 2GB PC2-6400)
- onboard SATA working (though I don't use internal HD, only NFS)
- onboard GigE *not* working
- Intel PRO/1000 MT Dual installed in PCI slot working
- Intel VT-x supported

All in all, this was quite easy to do, and I can simply put the USB stick in and boot to ESXi, or use the internal HD and directly run Windows or Linux if needed.

Ciao, Luca
