Post Intel DQ57TM with ESXi 4 Update 01 and ESXi 4.1
Hello All,

My working configuration for ESXi 4 Update 01 and ESXi 4.1 is:

Mainboard: INTEL DQ57TM
Harddisk: INTEL Postville 80GB SATA SSD in AHCI mode
Processor: Intel CORE I5-650
LAN: onboard Intel 82578DM Gigabit Network Connection
Memory: Kingston ValueRAM 8GB 1333MHZ DDR3 NON-ECC

I tried the OEM.TGZ File from "Hardworker" (thx to you!) for the onboard Intel Nic and edit the files with following:
8086:10ef 0000:0000 network e1000e2.o
and:
10ef 82578DM Gigabit Network Connection
like "thedocau" did it (thx also to you!)
After this i could install ESXi Update 01 with the modified OEM.TGZ (thx to "Varazir" for your great script) and upgrade my whitebox with the VMWare vSphere CLI to ESXi 4.1.
VMDirectPath works as well.

Thanks for the info!

What I like to do is build a virtual TV-server (Mediaportal) and connect my FloppyDTV/S2 cards to it. (firewire).

So with this board, I could plugin a simple pci firewire card and connect my cards and it should work?

Do you Think you could send me the pci.ids and simple.map files from your iso? I am trying to build a very similar confiuration using a windows machine to build the image and I keep getting an odd bad header error. I was hoping to check your files out to see where my mistake lays.

Hello All,

i built my second Whitebox after this one (http://www.vm-help.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=97) today.

I bought a very similar configuration like Commander:

Mainboard: INTEL DQ57TM
Processor: Intel CORE I5-650
LAN: onboard Intel 82578DM Gigabit Network Connection + Intel Pro 1000 GT PCI Card (detected out of the box)
Memory: 16 GB Mushkin Essentials 1333MHZ DDR3 NON-ECC

I added these entries to config files during the scripted config with Varazir's awesome script (THX!):
8086:10ef 0000:0000 network e1000e2.o
10ef 82578DM Gigabit Network Connection

But there's only the 1000 GT Adapter available. Anyone an idea what i can do to determine the configuration error?

Regards

Did you include an oem file with the e1000e2 driver file?

Hello Dave,

you're right. I controlled the data in the esxi-console and saw that there was the correct entry for 10ef 82578DM Gigabit Network Connection but not the driver mapping at simple.map . I can't find the e1000e2.o on that image. Why is there only one of 3 components included?

I'm a bit confused. I tried it 10 times but the driver and the driver mapping in the simple.map isn't there....it seems to be only the pci.ids will bei included by varazirs script....

The script should just copy the oem.tgz file into install media. If you extrat the tgz file do you see simple.map?
