HP Pavilion p6320y Desktop PC

Got this machine working with the help of the oem.tgz files provided here.
This was required for the on board nVidia nForce SATA Drive.
viewtopic.php?f=17&t=311&p=1731#p1731

On board NIC worked but it is 100 MB so I installed the Intel PRO 1000.

Even was able to setup RDM for a file server.

For $699 at bestbuy with 8 GB DDR3 I thought i made out good.

Thanks for this post! I have a p6320f with similar specs which I hope to get working using your tip. (BTW, I paid about the same price.)

djdzam,

What is the process you followed to modify the oem.tgz file and get the system running on you HP Pavilion box?
I'm new to the board and not versed in modifying .iso images.

Thank you.

I purchased the HP Pavilion p6320y specifically as a lab system for VMWare ESXi 4, but i'm unable to get it to boot up properly. I used a usb flash drive install containing the oem.tgz file linked above, but whe the system boot up I received an error, "failed to find boot partition".

I'm still struggling to find a solution to this problem. Let me know if you have encountered this at all, or any suggested solutions.

I resolve the issue with the HP Pavilion p3620y where the error showed with "Failed to find the boot partition". It turns out that the custom oem.tgz file version i used in the install usb flash drive was not properly installed on the vmware ESXi server. I boot up with a Linux Live CD (Ubuntu 10 install disk) and replaced the version that was installed in Hypervisor1 drive. Reboot and the system came up fine.

The new oem.tgz file contains the drivers for the builtin SATA card so once in its proper place the system recognized all the hardware.

Do you know if that computer supports 64-bit Guest OS when running ESXi 4?
Thank you
