Just wanted to report success with the following configuration:

Supermicro X8ST3 (X58 chipset)
Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.67GHz
12 GB ram
Promise SuperTrak EX8650 SAS/SCSI hardware raid controller (supports battery backup)
Intel 82574L dual port gigabit network adapter built onto board

The ICH10R controller also appears to be visible, but I do not use that, since I wanted to hardware raid.

I installed a vanilla ESXi 4.0 U1 version and then used the .iso file to add support for the Promise STEX controller http://downloads.vmware.com/d/details/e ... BiZGVqdA==

Tom.

Hi There,

Is any one tested the VT-D (Directed IO pass through) with this motherboard?

Thanks.

Does the ESX show health status for this raid controller Promise EX8650?

I am planning to build the Whitebox base on this type of controller and want to double check the health status report by ESX.

Does the web-based Promise Array Manager Professional (WebPAMâ„¢ PRO) work in managing the disk array in the ESX environment?

Thanks
