I just upgraded one of my old Gigabyte boards which runs ESX 3.5 to the Intel DG35JO and with some help from viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1762
I got everything working. The low down:
- SATA works (seems to work in either IDE or AHCI mode, I have it in AHCI mode working)
- Onboard Intel NIC works (82566DM-2)
- IDE works if you build a custom ISO using the pata_marvell driver provided by danisoto
- Supports 8GB memory
I have ESXi 4.0.0 208167 working with a custom loaded oem.tgz (I used Varazir excellent script to build the new ISO). I wanted to use an IDE flash drive for ESXi to have the option for a diskless ESXi system (just using iSCSI). I didn't realize the IDE controller was not part of the Intel chipset. But some quick PCIID prodding led me to Marvell Chipset and then to danisotos driver. After building the custom ISO the IDE flash disk was showing up as an available install device.
