Asus P5 NT WS with onboard & LSI Logic MegaRAID 300-8X
here my working specs - all without ANY modifications:
Asus P5 NT WS (with PCI-X)
onboard Controller (non-RAID)
Intel Core 2 Quad 2,4
8 GB DDR-667 non-ECC (4x2GB)
additionally i tried the LSI Logic MegaRAID 300-8X LP (LowProfile mit Multilane S-ATA)
works fine - NO problems, just a long time "Firmware initializing" when booting...
Guest-VM with SuSE Linux 11.1 64bit, several times hdparm:
onboard: ~ 3000 MB/sec cached
onboard: ~ 220 MB/sec buffered
LSI Logic: ~ 4500 MB/sec cached
LSI Logic: ~ 345 MB/sec buffered
Edit: Write-Performance while Copying from onboard-datastore => LSI-Datastore was about 120 MB/sec (the max. of the drive?). I'll rebuild to RAID1 and post the values with read ahead caching.
All tests were made with 1 single Seagate ST31500341 1,5TB Drive.
I booted from a separate 320GB Seagate (onboard)
