Post Foxcon G31MXP works with ESX4i
Hi,
I have tested the Qmotion Goldline 3046.
In desktop is Foxcon G31 MXP MB installed, max 4 GB ( 2 * 2 GB ) :-(
Onboard lan not working -> failed to load LVMdriver.

Installed 1000GT card -> ESX4i can be installed on desktop system.

Installed 2 * 160 GB SATA disk to onboard SATA controller -> works.
Disk I/O performance at host < 40 MB/Sec.

If 3 VM's are up and running system used 75 Watt power !!!

My old HP DC5100 desktop with LSI MegaRAID 150 controller and 4 HDD's consumes 206 watt !

Happy VMware,

cheers
Jan

Post Re: Foxcon G31MXP works with ESX4i
Good Morning. I am trying to install Vmware Esxi 4.0 on Foxconn G31MXP and I am not able to do the netework adapter compatible.
I am trying with some "oem.tgz" of Realtek from this page but when it is installing a message is shown that it doesn't recognize the network adapter.

Could you tell please, tell me how I can introduce the driver into the Vmware Esxi 4 iso?

Thanks in advance.

It may be that the PCI id of your NIC is different from the ones listed in the simple.map file in the oem.tgz file. I would check that the driver you're trying to use is in /usr/lib/vmware/vmkmod and if so try vmkload_mod to manually load the driver. If it works the output of esxcfg-nics -l should then should the NIC and you'll just have to check simple.map. If the driver can't be loaded then it may need to be modified to work with your NIC.

Thanks for the answer.
I have just resolved the problem.
I was trying to change oem.tgz into image.tgz with the tutorials of this page but It seems that it doesn't recognize the driver or .tgz.
Then I have modified the boot, before the installation starts I press TAB and I add oem.tgz at the end of the line and the NIC is installed.

Now I have the vmware esxi 4 installed and I fighting to configure it.

Regards.
