When you get to the point where you get the error, access the console and try to load the driver manually.

1) Press ALT+F1
2) Login with root (no password)
3) vmkload_mod can be used to load a driver. Drivers are located /usr/lib/vmware/vmkmod. If you can manually load the driver then you just need to tweak simple.map in the oem file to include your particular NIC.

Otherwise you might have an issue between the driver and your NIC.

Thanks so much for quick reply. I'm very happy about your service.
I created usb drive from reading this link
http://www.virtualgeekhub.net/content/h ... -usb-stick

then i was unable to add oem.tgz because i tried it with a windows 7 pc. inside vmware workstation, i booted up a Vm using ubuntu Live CD. when i pluged usb drive it automatically opened all partitions in it & i replaced oem.tgz file downloaded from this link

viewtopic.php?p=11181#p11181

then network card detected as intel 82579LM.but my network card is intel 82579V. is it ok ? or do i need to do something to detect real network card ?

I can't edit files inside oem.tgz because i can't save it as .tgz
i think i'm wrong with something at there.
i read pci.ids file, intel 82579v is there. why it detect as a different one ?
i pluged usb drive to another pc that has rtl8139d & it was in pci.ids file. but it not detected

thanks

pci.ids is only used for display information. So it's Ok if the NIC has a differenent name.

The main this is that if you run lspci -p you should see a module listed for your device. If not then a driver is not being loaded.

You can edit the oem.tgz file within the ESXi boot session if you need to.

thanks so much for your quick reply. I tried to test vsphere 5.0 on my current system but network card not detected. as i have found oem.tgz is not used in vsphere 5.0. is it?
I tried Esxi-customizer. The auther of that software tells it works for vsphere 5.0 but needs vib offline bundles zip driver files.
can i accomplish this goal ?
thanks

ESXi 5 is setup in a different way for drivers. I would first try to load the native driver with vmkload_mod. If that works then you can modify the system files that are required with ESXi - otherwise you have to look at getting an updated driver.
