After a little work I have managed to create an oem.tgz file for VMWare ESXi 4.1 that works with the 1GB quad port Intel Ethernet Server Adapter I340 card. The posts in this section helped me immensely so I thought I'd return the help by posting my working file.

So I used your OEM file and bingo I see the NIC however I now lost the INTEL's 82583V onboard NIC. I don't understand why nor do I understand how to get it back .. Any suggestions?

Sorry for the delay in replying (I'm just getting back from vacation). How have you made out with this?

I should have posted my latest earlier - All is good actually.. I got another intel card and installed it but started seeing one of the nics as disconnected. I knew everything had a cable so I became concered that the new card (i could see it in esxi) was bad.. Then I realized the disconnected nic was the built-in adapter. So end of story is I noe have 6 NICs - Okay overkill I know but this is a sandbox so the more the merrier
