No, a VM will go out through on NIC so it'll max at 1 GB (unless you're using 10 GB ).

My host has 4-1Gb/sec NICs which I have aggregated together.

And at least one of my clients is doing LACP bonding of 2-1GB/sec NICs on my switch.

One interesting test I did was between two VMs; one with a single NIC and the other with 2 bonded NICs. And iperf showed an average of 2.23Gbps...

I try to install ESXi 4.1 on my Dell Inspiron 1545. I used the special "Dell" ISO image provided by VMware and applied my configuration by using the ESXi-Customizer script. It has a Marvell NIC. I tried the sky2 driver posted in this topic but after installation of ESXi I get this error in the console log window (Alt+F12):

cpu0: 4098) <3>sky2 vmnic0: TCP segmentation error
cpu0: 4098) <3>sky2 vmnic0: hw error interrupt statux 0x1
cpu0: 4098) <3>sky2 0000:09:00.0: error interrupt status=0x80000000

Does anybody have an idea how to fix this issue?!

I totally new with ESXi.

(BTW: I tried to install ESXi 5 but it crashes after install with a "purple screen of death")

Hello Ingo, I wouldn't bother with the Dell ISO image as it'll contain management components that your host won't support.

I'd just start with the 4.x release and no modifications. Later releases of ESXi 4.1 did include a sky2 driver.

thanks for your reply! - Your suggestion did not work. I downloaded ESXi 4.1 Update 1 ISO and installed it using a USB flash drive.

But the ESXi installer reports me that there is no NIC plugged in.

Any further suggestions?

thank you for your reply! - I had to setup the ESXi on my Dell Inspiron 1545 again for capturing the PSOD. - It appears while accessing the ESXi with vSphere Client over ethernet. Then it crashes after some seconds. Before the vSphere Client reports lost connection...
