the NIC is Atheros (Attansic Technology Corp.) L1 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter (1969:1048), which is on the ASUS P5KPL motherboard

this module contains code from http://atl1.sourceforge.net/

it works now, but I haven't test it under heavy network load.

Do you think this will work with the Atheros AR8131 card (Atheroes 8131L-AL1E chip). It's pci id 1969:1063.

I'm running Windows atm and before setting upon the task of installing Linux to modify the install image I was hoping to get confirmation if it would work or not.

If not, any hope of getting a driver for it? There is a Linux driver for it, but I do not have the knowledge to turn that into a EXSi driver: http://www.hogchain.net/attansic/attansic.html

the PCI ID list dose not have 1969:1063, so 1969:1063 device would not work

This driver definitely works on my ASUS P5KC.

Now if only I could get pci passthrough to work on this board....

You were right. Ended up buying an intel etherexpress pci card to use instead.
