@Gromit42

I was having the same problems on boot getting the "menu.c32: not a COM32R image"

I can see from the screenshot you are using SYSLINUX 4.10. I had the same problem with 4.10 and 4.00.

I was able to fix this by grabbing 3.86 from here:

http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/boot/syslinux/

And in Windows, I went into the win32 directory and ran this:

Code:
syslinux.exe -m -a X

Reference: http://syslinux.zytor.com/wiki/index.ph ... _and_Vista

Still trying to get the actual install to work for 82578DM 8086:10ef but it seems to pick up the driver in this case.

Hello,

I have already ESXI 4.1 deployed and it has like 4 VMs running on it. Am using Intel DH55TC Mother Board.
My question is how can I add the oem-8086-10f0.tgz to the existing installed ESXI 4.1 through the Vmware vSphere CLI.

Thanks :)

Are you using an existing oem.tgz file?

With your Intel DH55TC install did it recognize your network and storage adapters OK?

Hi,

First of all thanks for the original post, it was very helpful, both with a DH55TC and a DQ57TM :)

I however now have a brand new sandy bridge board, DQ67SW (the fixed version, B3), and it has a new chip.

lspci output from vmware esxi running on the board:

000:000:25.0 Ethernet controller Network controller: Intel Corporation 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection
Class 0200: 8086:1502

I can see in the release notes for the 1.3.10a version of the intel e1000 driver that it should be supported.

So I was hoping that someone could supply a compiled version of this driver to be used in an esxi 4.1.1

/a

I'd check the driver downloads for vSphere. There may be an updated e1000e driver there.

I too would be very appreciative if a 82579LM driver could be compiled! I have no clue how to go about doing that myself. :(

I checked VMware.com and their driver packs, but in 2011 only 10Gbit drivers have been released.

So if the original compiler of this driver add-on can compile it again using the newest source (1.3.10a) seems to support the 82579LM, so that would be great!

I believe you need the IGB drivers/source/package though. That one is currently at 3.0.19.

I have a very hacked up version based on a hybrid of 1.1.19 and 1.2.8, that I just compiled and it seems to work.

Its a hack, seems to work, but might be very buggy. After fighting with it, I got it compiled with no errors or warnings though! One Bug that I DO know of, Jumbo Frames DO NOT WORK with this driver.

I did try and post the file, not sure what happened to the post. I do have a *buggy* but working driver for the Intel 82579LM. One major bug though, which is lack of jumbo frame support. It might let you set it, but it won't work.

Based on a Hybrid of 1.1.19 and 1.2.8 driver sets, I did it as a quick and dirty fix to get it up and running(took me all of an hour). Currently I am working on getting the 1.3.10a drivers compiled, there's been ALOT of changes which is causing the VMWare compiler to spit and hiss. I'll work on it over the weekend and see if I can get a working, non hacked up version.
