Is there anyone can update the OEM files ?
the first post attachment causes so many issues!
my gigabyte mb comes Realtek 8111c, load the OEM file, it recognizes the NIC, but Remote Desktop could not connect virtual PC, system disconnect from network after awhile.

Hi everyone,

I was having issues with my onboard 8111 where the ESXI network was crashing under any sort of load.

Someone has compiled a later version of the Realtek driver 8.018 (see here: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2187) so I have compiled the newer driver into the OEM.tgz from this thread.

Hope you find it useful.

Chris

It's been a week or so since you've posted.... how stable is the new driver?

I know with the old driver - it would fail within an hour or so with the 8111 card.

Thanks in advance,
Simon

Hi Simon,

I've been using the new driver for the past week and haven't had any issues. It seems to have fixed all of the problems I've been having.

mcvax,

Thanks for the file. I was plagued with a network driver that would crash the entire host, along with acting strange with several VM's.

I simply downloaded your oem.tgz, extracted the r8168.o, and replaced the file in my existing oem.tgz. Since then my realtek driver has been working flawlessly. I made sure to put as much load on the NIC as I could and it passed all tests.

I have tested the following Operating systems:

Windows Server 2003
Windows Server 2008
Windows 7 Professional
Windows XP
Ubuntu 10.04 Server
Ubuntu 10.10 Desktop

If your out there wondering if you can install ESXi on your AMD/Realtek/Gigabye system, don't give up!

Here are my specs:
ESXi 4.1
Gigabyte GA-880GMA-UD2H (Realtek RTL8111/8168B)
AMD Phenom II X6 1055T
16GB DDR3

With the driver provided by mcvax here I get the problem that I described here.

The only driver that works for me, as I stated here, it is the one provided by frutis here.

Please submit your experience!

Hi. Thanks for all these posts.

I have an Intel D510MO with cpu Atom and Realtek 8111 network on board.
ESXi original kit freeze on install so I tried to include the drivers
RTL8111_8168_P55_integr_SATA_Ctrl.(AHCI).oem.tgz
by using the script mkesxiaio_4.1.sh from http://code.google.com/p/mkesxiaio/
(I am not very familiar with the command line) over the
VMware-VMvisor-Installer-4.1.0-260247.x86_64.iso
This was done on CentOS 5.4 64 bit. The script works without error,
but when I install the resulted custom ESXi iso, I get the following:

"Elf: kernel module r8168 was loaded, but has no signature attached"
"Warning: Syslog not configured. Please check...."

and the installation process freeze on "Welcome to VMWare...." screen,
the same as when I try the original kit.

Every version of r8168.o I tried, I got the same error and I was not able to install anything. I suspect it is not related to the driver.

If you have any suggestion on how to solve this, please let me know.

Often when an install freezes it is related to a USB keyboard. If you're using one give it a try with a PS2 keyboard.

Hi Dave,
Thank you for your answer.
Both mouse and keyboard are on PS/2.
I made today several tests with or without AHCI enabled,
with or without HDD attached, with BIOS set to defaults,
all with the same results: freeze on Welcome screen.
I have checked also the RAM memory with Memtest86: it is OK.
Last week on the same system I was able to install a VMWare
Server 2.0.2 and a couple of virtual guests on top of a CentOS 5.4 host
(not without problems, but without any freezing on install) so I believe the system is OK.

I saw on the forum that others with D510MO motherboards have
succeeded to install and run ESXi, so if there are any
suggestions I will try them.

Best regards,
CipMihai

I would pull the keyboard and see if it gets any further.
