Post how to customize
Hello guys, sorry, I'm new on this; I was looking for support for Realtek 8169 NIC which I see is supported, but how do I do this?

I have ESXi 3.5 already Installed, I was looking in some other page in this site that I can use Slax to boot and then modify the oem.tgz file.

In my particular case I found that the file at http://vm-help.com/esx/esx3i/Custom_oem.tgz/mymods-0.1.gz will add these drivers, but my question is what do I need to do, just append the data on the file to the oem.tgz file?

If some can enlighten me, I'll really appreciate.

Thanks a lot.

Do you have network connectivity on the system right now? If so, you can enable SSH and just copy the file over the current oem.tgz (which by default is empty).

The driver won't work with ESXi 4.0 so when you upgrade you'll have to get a newer driver and replace oem.tgz after the upgrade.
